The Casual Event Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality food for banquets, weddings, conferences, and special events. This position works on an as-needed basis and requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, quality standards, and event timelines. Assist with food preparation before events, including portioning, chopping, and organizing ingredients. Ensure all food is presented professionally and served at the appropriate temperature. Work efficiently with the banquet and kitchen team to ensure smooth event execution. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in accordance with food safety regulations. Properly store food and label products following FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. Assist with setting up and breaking down banquet kitchen stations. Monitor food quality and report any shortages or equipment issues to the Chef. Follow all health, safety, and workplace policies. Perform other kitchen duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, banquet, or catering environment preferred. Food Safe Level 1 Certification (or willingness to obtain). Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality standards. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs) and stand for extended periods. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Skills & Attributes Strong attention to detail. Reliable and punctual. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Employment Type Casual / On-Call, with shifts scheduled based on business and event needs.
