Key Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, assigns, mentors and guides early childhood educator assistants, volunteers, and practicum students. Orient and welcome new children and families while ensuring all enrolment and licensing documentation is complete. Identify children’s individual needs and develop inclusive individual and group learning experiences. Monitor children’s progress and behaviour, maintain records and care plans, and coordinate referrals or additional supports when needed. Maintains required records, care plans and statistics using EsiKidz and other agency systems. Participates in short- and long-term planning and evaluation of programs offered by the organization. Provides recommendations for change to the supervisor. Attends to the children’s physical needs that may include diapering, toileting, eating and sleeping. Administer first aid and medication in accordance with established policies. Model positive behaviour guidance and developmentally appropriate practices. Maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment. Build positive relationships with families and communicate regularly about children’s growth, development, and needs. Ensure compliance with agency policies, childcare licensing regulations, WorkSafeBC standards, and health and safety requirements. Support licensing inspections and identify and report safety, compliance, and risk concerns. Qualifications: Early Childhood Education Certificate One (1) year recent related experience. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Successful completion of the agency screening process, including clear criminal record check Additional Information: This position is open to all qualified applicants This position requires union membership We have 3 full-time positions available Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Rate of Pay: $23.61 plus four (4) dollars ECE wage enhancement Closing Date: Open until filled BGC Okanagan is committed to equitable hiring practices.
