This includes laying out, measuring, marking, cutting, shaping, fitting, and installing sheet metal components, ductwork, ventilation systems, hoods, and related equipment. Apprentices perform these duties under the guidance and supervision of experienced journeypersons while developing the knowledge and skills required to become certified. Journeypersons are expected to work independently, demonstrate technical expertise, and may provide guidance and supervision to apprentices and other workers when required. *Responsibilities & Duties* * Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products related to assigned projects. * Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape, and straighten sheet metal. * Lay out, measure, and mark sheet metal accurately. * Inspect finished products to ensure quality and conformity to specifications. * Cut materials using power tools or hand tools. * Fit, join, and install sheet metal fittings, ductwork, hoods, and related equipment. * Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications. * Fabricate or modify parts on-site using shears, hammers, punches, drills, and other tools. * Install and safely use rigging and hoisting equipment. * Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets. * Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work. * Handle materials and equipment manually. * Perform physically demanding work, including standing for extended periods and repetitive motions. * Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. * Journeypersons may be required to mentor, train, and supervise apprentices and other workers. * Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet operational requirements. *Work Conditions* * Field work (outdoors, dusty and dirty environments) * Indoor work in non-environmentally controlled settings * Exposure to hazardous conditions, equipment, machinery, and tools * Exposure to loud noise and varying lighting conditions * Risk of cuts, abrasions, and other skin injuries * Driving company vehicles, requiring extended periods of sitting and maintaining focus * Occasional work outside regular business hours to meet project requirements *Certificates, Licenses & Qualifications* *Apprentice* * Registered or eligible to register in the 308A Sheet Metal Apprenticeship program. * Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn the trade. * Basic understanding of hand and power tools. * Physically capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and performing manual labour. * Strong attention to detail. * Basic math, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. * Valid Driver's
