Director, Financial Controller Our Client Our client is a fast-growing, private equity-backed technology company operating at the intersection of AI, analytics, and enterprise software. Headquartered in the United States with a growing Toronto presence, the organization is experiencing significant expansion and is positioned for substantial long-term growth. The company is seeking a high-calibre finance leader to join its Toronto office. The organization values intelligence, humility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills equally alongside technical expertise. They are looking for someone with high IQ and high EQ - a collaborative, low-ego professional who is willing to roll up their sleeves and help build scalable infrastructure within a lean, high-growth environment. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this individual will serve as a strategic partner across accounting, financial reporting, controls, FP&A, and operational finance initiatives. Responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes across multiple legal entities Own financial reporting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and supporting Canadian statutory reporting requirements Build and maintain scalable accounting processes, controls, and financial infrastructure across a multi-entity, multi-currency environment Manage full-cycle accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and intercompany eliminations Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, runway analysis, and board/investor reporting Design and implement internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and maintain audit readiness Serve as the primary contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies Oversee corporate tax, sales tax, payroll tax, and compliance matters across multiple jurisdictions Lead ERP and systems transformation initiatives, including transitioning from QuickBooks to a scalable ERP platform Collaborate cross-functionally with product and delivery teams to support the development of financial intelligence tools and analytics Contribute strategically to both controllership and FP&A initiatives in a blended finance leadership role Help establish scalable policies, procedures, and automation frameworks to support continued global growth Requirements CPA or CA designation required 6-8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience Strong expertise in US GAAP and multi-entity accounting environments Experience managing financial reporting, audits, internal controls, and compliance processes Background in SaaS, technology, or PE-backed/high-growth environments Big 4 public accounting experience is preferred Prior experience in lean, entrepreneurial organizations where a hands-on approach is required Strong technical accounting foundation combined with commercial and FP&A capabilities Experience with ERP systems and process improvement initiatives Exposure to cross-border or international operations is considered a strong asset REF# LI1701
