Due to the structured nature of the program, onboarding activities, and cohort experience, candidates are expected to be available for the full internship term. Availability for the entire program duration is required to successfully participate in the internship. As a Commercial Banking Credit Analyst Intern at BMO, you’ll have the opportunity to develop strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills while working alongside experienced Commercial Bankers who are passionate about client success. Analyzes credit information to support lending decisions and processes for new and existing Commercial banking loans and credit solutions in an assigned portfolio of clients. Makes credit decisions and recommendations in compliance with bank policies and procedures while maintaining an exceptional client service environment. Performs financial analysis and calculations and makes recommendations to Manager. Supports portfolio monitoring and compliance, analyses metrics, and assesses industry trends to spot risks and opportunities. Prepares detailed credit summaries to assess creditworthiness and support decision making. Provides content and support for proposals and presentations to capture new business and expand client partnerships. Builds and maintains client relationships to ensure long-term financial performance in collaboration with Relationship Manager and business partners. Structures and supports new, renewal and extension loans aligned with client needs and bank & risk policies Conducts financial analysis and risk assessments of clients’ credit information, for an assigned portfolio, to provide insights and make informed decisions Monitors the portfolio performance for assigned portfolio of Commercial Banking clients on an ongoing basis, taking corrective action when required. Minimizes BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to credit policies, regulatory standards, and operational guidelines. Serves as a point of contact for service requests, ensuring expectations are consistently met or exceeded. Escalates issues when needed. Supports and implements initiatives to enhance service quality, acquire new business and expand client relationships. Identifies revenue and cross-selling opportunities to enhance portfolio growth. Identifies share of wallet opportunities. Leverages analysis tools to nurture and grow a portfolio that exceeds ROE thresholds and evaluates client returns on a proactive basis. Manages timely and accurate data entry into BMO's systems and leverages the data to support decision-making. Completes complex & diverse tasks within given rules/limits and may include handling escalations from other employees. Analyzes issues and determines next steps. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Qualifications: As part of the BMO campus program, we are looking for motivated students with a strong desire to learn. Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, graduating Spring 2028. A preferred minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0. A preferred minimum of two undergraduate finance and accounting classes or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant experience in credit or lending instruments or financial operations in a corporate or banking environment is an asset. Specialized knowledge. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
