Description Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative scientist to join the Biotherapeutics Discovery department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. The position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in the discovery and molecular engineering of Biotherapeutics for unmet medical needs. You will be an integral member of the Lead Discovery group and will perform phage and yeast display selection (panning and screening), design and construct antibody libraries, and analyze DNA sequence and experiment data. This role will also contribute to the continued advancement of in vitro discovery workflows through close interaction with automation, sequencing, and cross-functional scientific partners. Competitive compensation and benefit programs reflect the company's high regard for its workforce.Duties & Responsibilities • Perform phage and yeast display selections for antibody discovery• Design, construct, and implement in vitro antibody libraries for lead identification and lead optimization, e.g., affinity maturation• Screen biologic drug candidates using ELISA and related techniques• Develop and execute high-throughput screening using automation technologies• Independently write protocols and technical reports in accordance with company policies• Independently present/defend scientific findings in project team or Department meetings• Actively participate in cross-functional teams/initiatives• Design and execute experiments with minimal supervision• Independently analyze and interpret experimental results• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support data-driven hit prioritization, workflow optimization, and efficient progression of discovery campaigns• Contribute to the continuous improvement of discovery workflows, including adoption of new technologies for screening, sequencing, and data analysisRequirements • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with seven-plus (7+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field• Experience in phage, yeast, or other display technology• Demonstrated mastery of molecular biology methods including primer design, PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning, and sequence analysis• Experience in characterization assays such as ELISA and related techniques• Concise and accurate reporting of technical data and information• Ability to work in team-oriented environment• Excellent organizational skills• Excellent written and verbal communication skills Desired experience, but not required:• Previous experience in lab automation• Experience with flow cytometry• Solid understanding of antibody discovery principles and familiarity with relevant technologies• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of DNA sequence analysis tools such as Geneious or similar• Familiarity with NGS-enabled antibody discovery workflows and interpretation of sequence-derived datasets• Exposure to AI/ML-enabled workflows that support antibody library design, hit prioritization, sequence analysis, or developability assessment• Experience working with bioinformatics, automation, or data-science partners in a multidisciplinary discovery environment• Exposure to digital laboratory tools or data systems (e.g., ELN/LIMS/Genedata Biologics/Benchling or similar) that support reproducible and scalable discovery workflows Eligibility Requirements• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)• Must be 18 years of age or olderCompensation Data This position offers a base salary typically between $87,000 and $130,600.
