Grader Operator

The Grader Operator plays a key role in road construction and maintenance, responsible for completing both rough and fine grade finishing. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong understanding of grade and slope, and the ability to work safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is dependable, takes pride in their work, and works well both independently and as part of a team. Job Responsibilities Perform daily maintenance and equipment inspections, including cleaning and greasing equipment Safely and skillfully operate a grader on public and private construction sites Understand and work with grade and slope requirements Read and interpret plans and follow survey markers Communicate with surveyors, supervisors and crew Adjust and control the grader blade to achieve required grade and finish Comply with ground disturbance regulations Maintain accurate grade and finish within required tolerances Monitor finished work to ensure quality standards are met Perform excavating, backfilling and site clean up Assist with labour tasks as required Follow safe work procedures and company safety practices Qualifications Experience operating a grader, including gravel road maintenance and finishing Ability to read and interpret grade stakes, plans and survey markings Physically fit and capable of manual labour tasks Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to identify equipment issues Experience with road construction projects is an asset Strong attention to detail Valid Class 5 driver's license Current driver's abstract (required prior to hire) What We Offer Competitive wages based on experience Benefits Profit sharing Company Share Ownership Program Ongoing training and development Opportunities for advancement Steady work during the construction season Many of our leaders started in field or entry level roles and we believe strongly in promoting from within. The Grader Operator is responsible for performing rough and fine grade finishing on road construction and maintenance projects. They must also conduct daily equipment inspections, maintain accurate grade tolerances, and communicate effectively with the site crew.

Candidates must have experience operating a grader and the ability to interpret grade stakes, plans, and survey markings. A valid Class 5 driver's license and the physical capability to perform manual labour tasks are required.
