The Heavy Equipment Field Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing trucks, trailers and road construction equipment in the field. Operating from a company service truck, this position responds to equipment breakdowns and repair requests throughout the construction season. When field service work is not required, they support equipment repair and maintenance activities in the shop. Job Responsibilities Operate a company service truck and respond to equipment breakdowns in the field Inspect, troubleshoot and repair construction equipment, trucks and trailers Complete servicing and preventive maintenance on equipment Repair hydraulic, electrical and mechanical issues Maintain service truck inventory and keep the truck clean and organized Communicate equipment issues and repair status with supervisors/operators Complete work orders and document repairs performed in a timely manner Follow company safety policies and procedures Work overtime and weekends as required during the construction season Qualifications Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician or 3rd/4th Year Apprentice Strong mechanical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently in field environments Welding experience considered an asset Comfortable using computers for diagnostics, work orders and maintenance documentation Valid Class 5 Driver's License with clean abstract (Valid Class 1 or 3 License is an asset) CVIP certification considered an asset Own tools required Physically capable of working in a demanding shop and field environments What We Offer Competitive wages based on experience Benefits Profit sharing Company Share Ownership Program Ongoing training and development Opportunities for advancement Steady work during the construction season Many of our leaders started in field or entry level roles and we believe strongly in promoting from within.
