Build, troubleshoot, and commission hydraulic systems that keep heavy industry moving. For 50 years, Janox Fluid Power Ltd. has designed, supplied, and installed custom turnkey hydraulic systems for heavy industry throughout British Columbia. Our experienced team delivers innovative, practical solutions for customers in the mining, forestry, hydroelectric, and marine sectors. We are looking for an experienced Hydraulic Technician / Millwright who combines strong technical ability with sound judgment and a professional approach to customer service. This hands-on position offers variety across shop work, field service, system installations, troubleshooting, commissioning, and team mentorship. The Opportunity Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will install, repair, troubleshoot, commission, and test hydraulic systems and components—including pumps, cylinders, motors, valves, and power units. You will also serve as a trusted on-site representative of Janox, working directly with customers and supporting the development of junior technicians. What You’ll Do Perform field service, installation, and commissioning of hydraulic systems and equipment. Tear down, inspect, diagnose, repair, and test hydraulic components. Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and identify practical, effective solutions. Support system fabrication and the installation of power units, tubing, and piping. Act as the primary point of contact between customers in the field and the Janox office. Communicate findings, recommendations, and job progress clearly and professionally. Mentor junior technicians and help promote safe, high-quality work. Complete assignments accurately while meeting project schedules and customer expectations. What You Bring A millwright background or equivalent industrial experience. At least three years of technician experience in a hydraulic shop environment. A strong understanding of hydraulic component repair and testing. Experience with system troubleshooting, fabrication, field service, and equipment installation. The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics. Familiarity with industrial controls, including sensors, switches, and relays. An understanding of power-unit fabrication, tube and piping installation, welding, and machining. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A professional, customer-focused approach. The ability to organize your work, take initiative, and contribute effectively within a team. A dependable track record in attendance, workmanship, safety, and productivity. Working Environment This position includes work in a busy manufacturing and repair shop specializing in hydraulic cylinder rebuilds, as well as work at customer sites. Candidates must be comfortable with: Out-of-town travel, field assignments, and overtime when required. Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Standing for extended periods. Working in a fast-paced environment where safety, precision, and deadlines matter.
