Job description: About Brass Inc. Since the year 2000, businesses have trusted us to provide reliable and independent hydro excavation and industrial cleaning services. Over the years we’ve expanded to offer our customers more by adding services including dredging and dewatering, directional drilling and core drilling alongside our existing services. Position Overview: Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator prepares accurate and competitive cost estimates by reviewing drawings, specifications, and bid requirements and completing quantity take-offs. This role includes obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing and developing detailed cost breakdowns for labour, equipment, and materials. The Estimator works closely with operations to develop practical, cost-effective solutions and prepares and submits bids. Organized record-keeping and attention to detail are essential. Key Responsibilities: Review project drawings, specifications, addendums, and bid requirements to understand scope and risks. Prepare and organize pre-bid documentation and perform accurate quantity take-offs. Research material, labour, and equipment pricing and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing breakdowns in accordance with project requirements. Collaborate with operations to develop practical, competitive, and cost-effective project solutions. Prepare, review, and submit bids within required deadlines. Attend bid openings and pre-construction meetings as required. Perform all other tasks that support accurate estimating and successful project execution. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred) 2+ years of relevant experience (construction or trades industry preferred) Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, scopes of work, and technical specifications. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to build, manage, and analyze spreadsheets. Able to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Ability to meet bid deadlines and perform well under time constraints Willingness to learn estimating software, internal systems, and company processes Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: CA$50,000.00 - CA$65,000.00 per year Benefits: Company events On-site parking Paid time off Work Location: In person
