Electrical Engineering Lead As part of the Engineering and Reliability Department at Braya Renewable Fuels, the Electrical Engineering Lead provides technical leadership and engineering expertise for electrical systems and infrastructure across the facility and the refinery's electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The role supports the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement of electrical infrastructure while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company policies. The Electrical Engineering Lead works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Projects, and external contractors to support both day-to-day operations and capital improvement initiatives. Responsibilities * Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in electrical engineering across the facility. * Develop, review, and approve electrical engineering designs, specifications, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation. * Support electrical reliability, availability, and asset performance initiatives. * Provide technical support for troubleshooting electrical equipment, systems, and operational issues. * Lead or support electrical engineering projects, including scope development, cost estimates, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout. * Ensure electrical systems and projects comply with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and company requirements. * Review electrical equipment specifications and participate in equipment selection and vendor evaluations. * Support electrical maintenance strategies, reliability programs, and asset management initiatives. * Participate in Management of Change (MOC), PHA/HAZOP, risk assessments, and other process safety activities as required. * Provide technical input into capital planning and identify opportunities for system improvements and optimization. * Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance to address electrical system performance, reliability, and safety concerns. * Provide technical oversight and guidance to engineering contractors and consultants. * Support commissioning, start-up, shutdown, turnaround, and major maintenance activities as required. * Investigate electrical incidents, failures, and recurring equipment issues and recommend corrective actions. * Maintain awareness of emerging electrical technologies, industry practices, and applicable regulatory requirements. * Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, technologists, and other technical personnel. * Promote a strong safety culture and ensure engineering activities are completed in accordance with company HSE requirements. Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university * Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) * Minimum 5 years experience required; 10-15 years preferred * Must pass pre-employment medical * Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively train and mentor employees * Motivated and hard-working with a professional attitude * Exemplary record in Health, Safety, and Environment is essential * Proven leadership and problem-solving capabilities and ability to meet deadlines * Computer literacy (an asset), i.e., Microsoft Office and (Computerized Maintenance Management System) such as Maximo or SAP * Significant experience in electrical engineering within an industrial, manufacturing, energy, refining, petrochemical, or similar environment. * Ability to read and understand Ghantt Charts, P6 schedules, etc * Experience with SKM systems analysis software would be an asset Physical Demands: By applying for this job, you acknowledge and understand that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to): * Regularly lifts/moves object up to 25 lbs. Occasionally lifts/moves >50lbs. Push/Pulling forces up to 50lbs are required. * Work repetitively involves reaching/stretching, bending, and twisting; regular standing, walking, and climbing. * Use of gross and fine motor skills; constant use of hand tools that require accurate control and steadiness and maintaining physical balance (e.g. Ladders/scaffolding). * Work environments can present exposure to loud noises or environmental hazards.
