WHAT YOU'LL DO We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer II for our Currents team, responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving Currents, our data export system at scale. The Currents system is a robust Kafka-based event pipeline handling tens of billions of messages daily that our customers leverage to analyze user behavior in near real-time. You’ll be a key engineer on a highly collaborative and skilled team, responsible for bringing projects from concept to production and improving our existing high-scale systems. You will be leveraging your experience, your skills, and a strong sense of teamwork to tackle the significant engineering challenges of running a critical data streaming system. Identifying solutions to challenges and developing skills to further optimize our execution is integral to our daily operations WHO YOU ARE 5+ years of full-stack development experience Experience building foundational systems at scale and spearheading software projects that significantly advanced the goals of your organization Leads by example. Excellent at mentoring engineers. Makes your colleagues better Self-starter with great communication and organizational skills and experience working in a highly collaborative team environment Experience with Kafka at scale, or comparable technology Nice to Have: Professional experience working with distributed systems and/or microservices Bonus if you’ve worked with Java, Kotlin, Confluent, or React For candidates based in Ontario, the pay range at the start of employment for this position is expected to be between CA$186,838 - CA$334,740/year, with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between CA$205,600 - CA$366,000/year (including performance-based or variable compensation (bonus or commission). Your particular offer may vary depending on multiple individual factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to cash compensation, this role qualifies for a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that you will own a piece of our company. You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving the Currents data export system, which is a high-scale Kafka-based event pipeline. You will lead projects from concept to production while collaborating with a skilled team to optimize system performance.

Candidates must have 5+ years of full-stack development experience and a strong background in building foundational systems at scale. Proficiency with Kafka or comparable distributed technologies is required, along with excellent leadership and mentoring capabilities.
