Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer Location: Oakville, Ontario (Hybrid, 3 days onsite) 1 year contract Introduction Brunel is seeking experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineers to support complex industrial engineering projects within the water treatment sector. We are looking for engineers with strong experience in electrical design, instrumentation, industrial control systems, and automation. Opportunities are available across multiple experience levels, with senior candidates potentially providing technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers. Responsibilities Design electrical and instrumentation systems for complex industrial projects. Develop single-line diagrams, load lists, I/O lists, control panel designs, schematics, network architectures, loop diagrams, and instrumentation documentation. Select instrumentation, control equipment, VFDs/starters, automatic valves, and other electrical components. Design low-voltage industrial control systems in accordance with applicable UL and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) requirements. Review and interpret engineering documentation including P&IDs, general arrangements, specifications, and design standards. Support control panel and equipment design for industrial and potentially Class 1 Div 2 environments. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors, and production facilities. Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning, and project implementation activities. Support project schedules, budgets, technical documentation, bids, and risk management. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Approximately 7+ years of relevant electrical, instrumentation, controls, or industrial engineering experience. Strong experience designing industrial electrical and control systems. Knowledge of UL and CEC standards. Experience with control panels, instrumentation, electrical schematics, I/O, and industrial automation. Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams. Valid passport and driver’s license. Nice to Have Water or wastewater treatment engineering experience. Experience with PLC, HMI and SCADA systems. Experience with Class 1 Div 2 equipment and environments. Experience with low- and/or medium-voltage power distribution. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or EIT designation in Canada. Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring engineering teams. Understanding of hydraulics, fluid mechanics, or water treatment processes. Working Conditions Hybrid work environment in Oakville, Ontario. Occasional travel of approximately 15% for client meetings, site visits, commissioning, or other project activities.
