Plant/Process Operator III Location: Cold Lake, AB Type: 1-year contract (potential for extension) Schedule: 7/7 Rotation (Days & Nights) Pay Rate Range: $75/h - $85/h About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced Plant/Process Operators to support operations across Cold Lake facilities. These roles are intended for senior operators who can quickly become productive with minimal training and operate across multiple sites. The successful candidates will primarily support steam plants, pressure equipment, and power generation units within plant operations (not field operations). Operators must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, rotating between facilities and supporting safe, reliable production. Key Responsibilities Liaise with Control Room Technicians (CRT) and Operations teams regarding safety requirements and work execution Support Operations Supervisors in coordinating plant activities Participate in emergency response activities Support commissioning and startup activities Review maintenance work packages and verify isolation requirements Endorse Work Permits as Area Operator (AO) Endorse Work Permits as Isolating Authority (IA) when required Coordinate activities between Operations and Maintenance groups Monitor operational priorities to maximize effectiveness Maintain communication with CRT and other operating areas Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained Complete daily logs and shift handover notes Perform equipment surveillance and inspections Execute process adjustments to maintain product quality Perform minor maintenance activities when necessary Safely complete physical work including: Lifting Climbing ladders/tanks/silos Moving chemical drums Required Qualifications 20+ years of operational/plant experience required 1st Class ABSA Power Engineering Certificate Extensive production operations experience Steam plant and pressure equipment experience strongly preferred Power generation experience preferred Strong understanding of: P&IDs PFDs UFDs Shutdown Logic Diagrams Process troubleshooting Plant operations and equipment monitoring Isolation procedures Permit systems Safety Systems Knowledge - advanced understanding of: Permit to Work (PTW) Step Back 5x5 Job Safety Analysis (JSA) Risk Assessment Emergency Response Procedures Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) Controls Integrity Management System (CIMS) Production Operations Best Practices (POBP) Planning & Budgeting (P&B) processes Soft Skills Leadership capability Ability to direct and influence crews Clear, concise communication Strong interpersonal skills High safety standards Ability to work in multicultural environments Team-oriented mindset Self-starter who requires minimal supervision Ideal Candidate Profile 20+ years of oil & gas plant operations experience 1st or 2nd Class Power Engineering certification (depending on posting) Steam plant experience Pressure equipment experience Power generation experience Experience working in large industrial processing facilities Strong permit/isolation authority experience Leadership and mentoring experience Ability to work independently with very limited training Willingness to rotate across multiple plants Local to Cold Lake or able to secure their own accommodations What We Offer Brunel connects specialists like you with world‑class opportunities across the globe.
