POSITION DETAILS The Intermediate Underwriter, Commercial Lines, underwrites and prices new business applications, endorsements and renewals on commercial lines policies within a set binding authority to grow and maintain a profitable portfolio. Maintain in-force policies and ensure all policies are issued within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules, and certificates attached. Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with brokers by providing exceptional customer service. Work collaboratively to support broker, claims, pricing and accounting inquires. Provide exceptional customer service by answering telephone inquiries, making outgoing calls, respond to emails and/or faxes as may be required. Track and produce daily, weekly and monthly production activity reports Assist in monthly business activity reporting Willingness to travel as some travel may be required. Please note, salary range is not inclusive of total compensation. The expected salary range for this position will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply. Who You Are A minimum of 3+ years experience in commercial lines underwriting Post-secondary education in a related field is required Working towards CIP, FCIP or CRM designation is an asset Extensive knowledge and experience with product development and developing underwriting guidelines Strong product knowledge and a thorough understanding of insurance policy wordings and the ability to make sound business decisions based on those wordings. Excellent analytical skills and decision-making skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Able to effectively set priorities to meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
