The Role Reporting to the senior engineer, mine, you will be primarily responsible for survey activities in support of mine development and production activities. Your role will also include performing various surface survey tasks, concrete QA/QC, and assisting with mine engineering data collection and instrumentation monitoring as needed. This position involves a diverse range of responsibilities both underground and on the surface, as well as office-based tasks. A strong focus on safety and efficiency is expected in all aspects of the work. In This Role, You Will Accurately and efficiently perform survey mark-ups based on approved designs and layouts to support key mining activities including development, production, freeze drilling, diamond drilling and Cavity Monitor Surveys, including underground drone flights. Perform month-end surveys to capture development progress and issue the month-end survey report. Liaise with mine technical services and mine operations to coordinate field survey work, timeline requirements, priorities, and survey methodology. Review and update relevant standard procedures and work instructions as required. Work independently, communicate effectively with coworkers to plan work, and provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship within the mine technician group. Conduct concrete QA/QC including concrete cylinder breaks/slump testing etc. and perform field duties to support mine engineering data collection and instrumentation monitoring efforts. Required technical certificate or diploma in mining or related field; a minimum of two years of experience in underground mine surveying, demonstrating technical proficiency and field expertise; equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered; proficiency working with survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations; experience performing and processing stope and cavity laser scans; proficient in MS Office and experience with 3D drafting software such as Deswik/Vulcan/AutoCAD; and work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft. Recommended experience in underground mining and/or uranium mining; experience flying drones; drafting experience; and additional mine related experience we will be an asset (mining, mine ventilation, mine construction). Requires a technical certificate or diploma in mining or a related field and at least two years of underground mine surveying experience. Proficiency with survey equipment, 3D drafting software, and the ability to work a rotational schedule is essential.
