About Camfil Camfil Power Systems is a leading supplier of air filtration and acoustic treatment systems for gas turbines with its headquarters for the Americas at 3025 Rue Joseph-A-Bombardier, Laval QC H7P 6C5. We are seeking a Mechanical Systems Technologist to join our team in Laval, Quebec. The successful candidate will apply mechanical engineering principles and technologies to support the design review, analysis, costing, quotation, and execution of mechanical systems and engineered equipment. This role combines technical design interpretation, system sizing and performance analysis, cost estimation, documentation preparation, and cross‑functional coordination to support both pre‑sales engineering and project execution. The position requires hands on use of CAD and engineering software, interaction with customers and internal stakeholders, and the preparation of technical, commercial, and contractual documentation to ensure mechanical systems meet performance, safety, and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Mechanical Systems Design & Engineering Analysis Review, interpret, and analyze customer specifications, performance requirements, and scope documents for mechanical systems and engineered equipment Perform mechanical system sizing, calculations, and technical evaluations to ensure optimized, cost‑effective, and high‑performance solutions Prepare, interpret, and revise conventional and computer‑assisted design (CAD) drawings, layouts, and assemblies using SolidWorks and AutoCAD Support feasibility reviews for custom and standard mechanical designs, ensuring manufacturability, performance, and compliance with specifications Conduct engineering analyses such as pressure drop calculations, mechanical load considerations, and operational performance assessments Technical Documentation & Engineering Records Prepare detailed technical documentation including, but not limited to, system sizing calculations, technical specifications, compliance documents, safety procedures, and operating documentation Prepare shipping, packing, and installation support documentation Review and validate sales and preliminary engineering drawings prior to quotation or project execution Ensure all documentation complies with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable codes Cost Estimation, Quotation & Sales Engineering Support Prepare cost estimates for mechanical systems and engineered products, including engineering and design, materials and components, manufacturing and production, and sourcing and logistics Support sales activities by translating technical requirements into accurate quotations Develop preliminary project timelines and execution assumptions during the quotation stage Analyze technical and commercial risks associated with projects Contribute to technical and commercial proposals used in customer bidding and negotiations Contract Review & Project Initiation Review customer purchase orders, contracts, and scope documents prior to acceptance Participate in project kickoff meetings and support project execution Present complete and accurate technical and contractual documentation to project teams Manufacturing, Sourcing & Fabrication Support Provide technical support for fabricated mechanical systems and assemblies Review fabrication scopes, drawings, and specifications to support accurate costing and manufacturability Provide engineering support input related to materials, fabrication complexity, tolerances, and system configuration Identify technical assumptions and constraints related to fabrication methods, materials, and system Review supplier quotations for technical completeness and compliance Project Coordination & Cross‑Functional Collaboration Work closely with sales, engineering, sourcing, production, and facilities teams to ensure technical alignment throughout the project lifecycle Provide technical input during internal reviews and customer discussions Participate in presentations and technical briefings for internal stakeholders and decision‑makers Education & Experience Requirements Post-Secondary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering At least one year of experience in: Apply testing and validation methodologies gained through academic and applied projects, including mechanical and pressure testing, hydrostatic and system testing, and prototype validation and performance analysis Implementing engineering procedures and safety protocols in laboratory, workshop, and testing environments Application of knowledge of fluids, thermodynamics, vibrations, materials, and manufacturing processes Working in a quotation‑driven engineering environments, where mechanical knowledge is applied to validate assumptions used in fabrication and system costing; support pricing, lead time estimation, and scope definition; and identifying technical inclusions and exclusions during proposal development Strong foundation in: Fluid mechanics and thermodynamics Mechanical system design and GD&T Manufacturing processes and materials System testing and validation Technical Skills Ability to speak in English and French CAD & Engineering Software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD (Revit and Ansys considered assets) Engineering & Analysis Tools: MATLAB, Python, C++, Excel Documentation & Systems: MS Office, ERP systems Experience with system testing, pressure testing, and performance validation is an asset Benefits The position includes health insurance, group benefits, and dental coverage, as well as two (2) weeks of paid annual vacation (4% vacation pay). What we offer: This is a full time permanent position (40 hours per week) with a wage of $35.00 per hour [$72,800.00 annually] plus overtime, health insurance, group insurance and dental plan, 2 weeks annual vacation (4% vacation pay).
