ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY Canadian Base Operators’ Southport team is expanding - and we're looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining high-quality spaces. As a proud partner of Kelowna Aerospace Defence Programs, we support the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) with essential services. In this role, you'll play a key part in keeping airfield facility grounds safe, functional and looking great year-round. If you're a hands-on, dependable and enjoy working in a dynamic work environment, we'd love to hear from you! This is a full-time 13-month term role. What You'll Do You’ll work across a variety of environments, contributing to seasonal maintenance and operations: • Safely operate a range of equipment, machinery, and hand tools • Maintain green spaces across airside areas, remote sites, and buildings • Support contractors with equipment operation as needed • Perform line painting, joint sealing, and site marking • Maintain and repair fences and gates • Assist with runway condition reporting and SNIC (snow & ice control) activities • Perform snow and ice removal on runways, sidewalks, and parking areas • Help keep workspaces, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized • Work collaboratively with other teams and departments • Complete timesheets and work orders accurately and on time What You Bring Required: • High School Diploma or equivalent • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence • 1–3 years of physically active work experience (lifting, shovelling, outdoor labour, etc.) • A strong work ethic and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Nice to Have (but not required—we’ll train you!): • Experience with airfield equipment (snow plough, sweeper, blower) • Experience operating loaders, scissor lifts, or lawn tractors • Familiarity with DND policies and procedures Skills That Set You Apart • Reliable, self-motivated, and resourceful • Strong attention to detail • Good time management and organizational skills • Commitment to safety and proper equipment use • Team player with effective communication skills • Willingness to learn and adapt Additional Requirements • Flexibility to work varied start times during winter operations • Ability to obtain: o Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP) o Airport Radio Operator Certificate o Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance Why Join Us • Be part of a supportive, close-knit team • Gain hands-on experience with specialized equipment • Work in a dynamic outdoor role—no two days are the same • Opportunities to learn new skills and grow your career • Contribute to meaningful work supporting the RCAF Our Commitment to Inclusion Canadian Base Operators welcomes applications from individuals of all abilities.
