The Pas Closes: 2026-12-31 Overview Responsibilities Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the welder is accountable to: Maintain and repair piping, storage tanks, equipment and structures in all areas of the site to ensure that the mill operates efficiently, and that production and safety objectives are achieved; Fabricate, repair, and install pressure piping in compliance with the QA/QC manual; Utilize different welding techniques (SMAW, GTAW, etc.) on various materials (carbon, chrome moly, stainless steel, aluminum) for fabrication and repairs of process equipment and structures; Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other policies, procedures and requirements; From instructions, prints and work orders, organize details of procedures, required materials and tools for the job; Ensure work area is maintained in a clean and organized manner; Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Qualifications Strong work ethic and proven safety record; Valid Welder Journeyperson Trade Qualification/ 4th year Apprentice Proven problem solving and trouble shooting skills; Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to assemble and repair equipment and follow work procedures & processes; Ability to work independently and take initiatives; Strong interpersonal skills; both verbal and written communication required; Holding (or having held previously) a Pressure Welder or CWB ticket is an asset . This is a unionized position. The starting wage is $47.87 hourly as per the Collective Agreement. Candidates must hold a valid Welder Journeyperson Trade Qualification or be a 4th year apprentice. Proficiency in reading blueprints and a strong safety record are required, with Pressure Welder or CWB tickets considered an asset.
