ABOUT THE POSITION As a Ramp Attendant, you will play a key role in supporting safe and efficient ground operations. Under the direction of the Ramp Coordinator, you will be responsible for performing a variety of ground handling tasks including loading and unloading aircraft, operating company equipment, and delivering essential ground services to aircraft. Level: As per the UNIFOR Collective Agreement. Pay Rate: Starting at $21.50 per hour in accordance with the UNIFOR Collective Agreement. Reporting to: Manager, Cargo & Ramp Please note this is a temporary position ending approximately February 4, 2028. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities: * Follow the companies Standard Operating Procedures without deviation; * Promote a safe working culture; * Load/unload aircraft; * Provide services to aircraft on the ground as required; * Assist Customer Service Agents and/or Cargo Attendants if so required; * Assist passengers with mobility and special needs; * Perform commissary duties as part of the specialized work function; * Responsibly maintain clean and orderly work areas; * Responsibly use and maintain Company equipment; * Perform other duties and functions related to the foregoing; * Completion of daily vehicle/equipment checklist; * Perform other duties and functions related to the foregoing; * Other duties as assigned. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent related work experience i.e. warehouse, forklifts, customer service industry, etc.; * Warehouse and/or customer service experience considered an asset; * Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, problem solving & interpersonal skills; * Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in a high pressure, high volume environment; * Knowledge of cargo handling and processing procedures considered an asset; * Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., on a continuous basis; * Forklift driving experience an asset; * Must hold a valid driver’s license; * Must be willing to work various shifts (including evenings, holidays and weekends); * Must be able to obtain and retain a D/A level Airport Pass; * Required to pass and maintain qualification on all ramp equipment; * Ability to communicate in Inuktitut is a definite asset; and * Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada. The successful candidate must be located in Ottawa, ON. Please note: This job entails irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and shift work. Shift schedules will be bid in order of seniority. As a result, we cannot provide you with a schedule around your current job, school schedule, activities, etc. You are however able to shift trade with your colleagues, but you are responsible for the shifts that you are scheduled. Employees will be given a minimum of (7) calendar days to select their shifts and the work schedule will be finalized (14) days prior to the effective date. Closing date: August 9, 2026
