Apprentice Fire Prevention and Security Technician This position is reserved for Nunavik Inuit Beneficiary of the JBNQA PERMANENT POSITION Code SST26-04 POSITION TO FILL 1 DEADLINE TO APPLY AUGUST 14 2026 The work location is at Nunavik and the normal work schedule is on a rotation of 4 weeks: 2 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 2 weeks for off. Responsibilities Reporting to the Supervisor and Team Lead, the Apprentice Fire Prevention / Security Technician is primarily responsible for: * Conducting required inspections of fire safety equipment and systems at the Expo site, as well as vehicles used by the Security and Emergency Measures Services and the Fire Brigade; * Providing support to Security and Emergency Measures dispatchers and supervisors in carrying out their daily duties; * Ensuring the maintenance and proper operation of fire extinguishers; * Providing training to employees; * Conducting road patrols; * Ensuring compliance with camp rules and regulations; * Representing the employer within the scope of their responsibilities; * Performing any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma (DES) (an asset); * Firefighter 1 certification or Fire Alarm Technician certification (ACAI/CFAA), or any other relevant experience related to the position may be considered (an asset); * Valid general explosives permit (an asset); * Relevant work experience related to the position (an asset); * Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; * Possession of a valid Class 5 or territorial driver’s license (mandatory); * Possession of a valid Class 4A driver’s license (an asset); * Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, or French (trilingualism considered an asset). Skills * Self-motivated, responsible, able to meet deadlines, methodical, strong team player, leadership skills, and excellent judgment; * Complies with occupational health and safety regulations, as well as environmental requirements; * Ability to work in a multicultural environment; * Ability to develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships; * Ability to work under pressure.
