Job Description This position tacks, welds, fabricates, and assembles structural steel components to produce open-web steel joists, & girders as required. This role operates in a high-volume manufacturing environment, executing high-quality welds that meet strict engineering specifications and safety codes. Lift, assemble and tack joist pieces at the jig. Setting up MIG Welding Equipment and performing welding operations to join metal parts and components by applying appropriate welding techniques. Read and interpret shop blueprints, drawings and welding specifications. Finding the right pieces of metal, position them, lining up and securing all pieces according to the design and help setting up the jig as required Apply precise and consistent weld to produce defect-free welds. Keep the work area clean and follow 5S standards. Performing routine cleaning and basic maintenance of MIG Welding Machines and practicing good housekeeping including 5S and and time management in the performance of daily duties. Comply with all legislated and Company’s Health, Safety Environmental, Quality and Lean policies, procedures and programs. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of two years related MIG welding experience and/or training on steel production lines; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. CWB Certification is required. Must possess basic English reading and mathematical skills. Ability to follow instruction and work within a team environment. Strong awareness of surroundings taking into account safety of self and others. Position will require the ability to produce welds which meet company quality standards, the ability to lift parts as needed and the ability to work at a pace established by production standards. Additional Information Unionized Role Pay rate: $34.07 per hour Task Premium: Tacker $0.75 per hour Day Shift: 6:00am to 2:30pm *Overtime available during the week and weekends Thank you for your interest in joining Canam Group Inc.
