Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Manager, Tax & Financial Reporting this is a key role within the organization where you will have significant responsibility related to Canadian and US tax planning, tax execution, financial consolidation, and metrics reporting among other things. The position will be in the office 5 days per week and will offer a competitive compensation package. Key Responsibilities · Supporting the preparation of Canadian income tax returns as well as US federal and state income tax returns including the pertinent inputs, calculations, journal entries, and true-ups; Exposure includes tax provisions, fixed assets, M&P, and investment tax credits, among others · Working with third-party professionals related to various aspects of both Canadian and US tax planning and execution · Championing calculations related to transfer pricing, administrative charges, and dividends · Digging into various tax matters and assessments and recommending a path forward · Triaging CRA, IRS, and various provincial and state tax-related notices and requests and managing communication with the various governing bodies; Coordinating assessments, reviews, and other compliance requests · Assisting with year end procedures including GIFI import files, executing a comparative analysis of tax returns over time, updating intercompany schedules, and supporting the preparation of our consolidation package and related tax provision calculations · Coordinating with Controllers of various subsidiary businesses · Supporting the year-end preparation of financial statements across various entities including championing operating company tax packages, reconciliations, and overlays · Supporting the monthly financial consolidation process as well as the monthly Key Financial Indicators process · Supporting tax-related due diligence of potential acquisitions · Working with the Senior Manager, Tax & Financial Reporting to ensure instalment payments are scheduled and current and that ongoing tax reviews are tracking to schedule; Working with accounts payable to ensure that tax instalment payments for 60+ entities are made on time · Covering reception during lunch breaks Skills and Qualities · Demonstrated attention to detail / accuracy, ability to effectively multi-task, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines · Strong oral and written communication skills · Solid familiarity with Microsoft Excel; Familiarity with TaxPrep or other tax preparation software is considered an asset · High integrity Requirements · University or college degree in accounting, finance, or business or related work experience · Minimum of 3+ years of experience in finance / accounting with at least one year of experience in tax · Highly collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a larger team · Though not required, experience in a manufacturing environment, a general understanding of ASPE, familiarity with Epicor Kinetic, and / or an understanding of Canadian / US income tax is an asset · Bilingual (English and French) is not required but is an asset Consideration will be given to those applicants with the legal ability to work in Canada.
