LEGAL ASSISTANT - WOLFVILLE (19-month Term) About Us: Burchell MacDougall LLP was founded in Truro, Nova Scotia in 1944. Together, our staff support our 30 lawyers, three of which are based in Wolfville. Job Overview: We are seeking a Legal Assistant to be based in our Wolfville office supporting our work in family law matters and wills/estates. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday, on-site opportunity for a 19-month term beginning early September 2026. In addition to your work as a Legal Assistant, you will be the face of the firm as you welcome visitors to our office and make deliveries of correspondence in the local area. As the successful candidate, you will rely upon your high level of professionalism as well as your education and experience to prepare correspondence and legal documents, communicate with clients and various outside agencies and offices, prepare and post legal accounts, calendar maintenance, scheduling and organizing. Required Knowledge, Skills, And Ability Include Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively; Proficiency in file management, document organization and attention to detail; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; A minimum of three years of proven experience working in a legal office setting or related field; Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures, preferably in the areas of family law and wills/estates matters; Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preference will be given to applicants who have successfully completed formal education in a reputable Legal Assistant or Paralegal program. The Legal Assistant will support family law and wills/estates matters by preparing legal documents, correspondence, and managing legal accounts. Additionally, the role involves welcoming office visitors, managing calendars, and making local deliveries of correspondence.
Exigences
Candidates must have at least three years of experience in a legal office setting and strong organizational skills. Preference is given to those with formal education in a Legal Assistant or Paralegal program.
