Carefirst Seniors & Community Services Association is a non-profit charitable community services agency established since 1976. Our spectrum of services has grown from the delivery of Chinese meals-on-wheels service to a full range of community support services, covering the whole Greater Toronto Area. With a staff of 550 members (including full-time and part-time staff) and the help of a pool of 850 active volunteers, we serve over 15,000 clients a year, including seniors, adults, youth with physical, social, emotional and health challenges. 3,000 of whom are "home-bound" and frail. The Carefirst Transitional Care Centre is a 30-bed facility providing short stay respite care service, aiming to create an environment promoting exceptional recovery and simultaneously enriching the quality of life for individuals who are in need. Join Carefirst and work with a team of passionate and dedicated health care professionals. We are currently seeking a Personal Support Worker to fill a vacant position at our Transitional Care Centre. Terms: Casual Shifts : 7am – 3pm; 3pm – 11pm; 11pm – 7am Pay range : $21 – $23 hourly Responsibilities: * Provide personal care services in a 24-hour respite care setting, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, skin care, dressing, toileting, lifts/transfers, mobility assistance, assisting at meal time, reminder of medication, etc. to meet clients’ needs and requests in a courteous and respectful manner * Assist with program planning and facilitation of program activities for clients * Document daily care given to clients * Assess, intervene and report incidents and changes in client status * Ensure the rooms are clean and free from hazards Requirements: * Graduated from a recognized Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate program * At least 2 years' experience in long term care facility/hospital setting * Current certification in First Aid & CPR, and Food Handling * Must be available to work shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays * Sensitivity to adults with needs related to aging, physical and mental health * Ability to perform client transfers and daily living activities; lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stretch, and stand for extended periods of time * Physically and mentally able to complete the duties of PSW without restrictions * Possess a caring attitude and excellent interpersonal skills * Proficiency in English and a second language that reflects the community served, eg. Exigences

Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and Food Handling are mandatory, along with the physical ability to perform lifting and transfers.
