Position Details: Position Status: Casual Location: Garrison Green, Recreation Therapy - Night Owls Project BW Hours: 0.00 FTE: 0.00 Shift: Evenings Union: HSAA Shift Times: 1400-2215 Rate of Pay: $40.81 - $54.34 PCN: N/A Date Competition Closes: August 06, 2026 Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Recreation Therapist is a member of the interprofessional health care team responsible for providing therapeutic recreation services in the area of functional intervention, leisure education and recreation participation to meet client’s psycho-social needs. The Recreation Therapist assesses recreation and leisure needs of clients and residents, develops treatment plans and provides or coordinates therapeutic programs/activities to meet those needs. The Recreation Therapist assists with the orientation, supervision and evaluation of support staff, students and volunteers as requested. In keeping with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) Standards of Practice, Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest’s policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. The demonstration of leadership is critical for success in this position. Responsible for other related duties as required. Note: This position is split between the Garrison Green and Rouleau Manor locations. Qualifications & Experience: - Graduation from a recognized Bachelors Degree program in Recreation Therapy, Leisure Studies, Recreation Administration or a related field. - Current and active registration in the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) is required. - Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) designation is an asset. - Current and active Basic Life Support Provider CPR is required. - 3 years recreation therapy experience is preferred. - Experience using a broad range of Recreation Therapy interventions with a variety of client populations is an asset \n \n About Carewest: We select dedicated people just like you to care for our clients, those who offer compassion, knowledge and commitment to the treatment, progress, outcomes and lives of our clients. Exigences
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field and maintain active registration with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). A minimum of 3 years of experience and current Basic Life Support CPR certification are preferred or required.
