Duties And Responsibilities Responsible for supporting the Director, Labour Relations (Academic) in the day-to-day operational requirements of the department. The incumbent will provide research and recommendations regarding the interpretation of collective agreements; will coordinate various academic labour relations initiatives; will assist with gathering information related to grievances; and will assist in the preparation for and coordination of joint union-management committees. May assist with providing situational analysis. Expected to support activities related to negotiating, maintaining, and ensuring adherence to the university's collective bargaining agreements. Qualifications The incumbent must possess the following qualifications: Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures Knowledge of the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices Ability to write/amend documents that accurately capture issue(s). Ability to use independent judgement and to manage and impart confidential information. Ability to analyze complex information, and to define and solve problems. Ability to investigate and analyze claims information and to draw conclusions. Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports. Knowledge of current and emerging legislation, issues and trends as appropriate to the position. Education And Experience The above is normally acquired through the completion of: A Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field Minimum of three years of previous labour relations and human resources program and service experience.
