Carmichael Engineering is seeking a full-time Combustion Technician (TAG-1) to join its team. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will play a key role in the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of commercial and institutional heating systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing hot water and steam heating systems, while supporting operational continuity for commercial and institutional clients. Earn a competitive hourly rate, based on your experience and TAG-1 certification. Job Title: Combustion / Heating Technician (G1) Work Location: Work Schedule: Salary Range: Responsibilities: Perform seasonal maintenance on a wide range of hot water and steam heating systems in industrial and institutional sectors Diagnose system issues, troubleshoot, and resolve problems Test combustion equipment and associated control systems Dismantle defective systems and test components Replace faulty parts and reassemble repaired systems Test system operation and make necessary adjustments to ensure safe and reliable performance Estimate, order, and install materials and supplies required for equipment maintenance Maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements, and causes of malfunctions Perform combustion analysis and adjustments to meet manufacturer requirements Provide personalized follow-up with clients Requirements: G1 or G2 certification Valid driver’s license Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of industrial and institutional heating and combustion systems Strong communication skills with clients and suppliers Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams What We Offer: Competitive hourly rate based on experience, certification, and qualifications Company-provided service vehicle for work-related travel Ongoing training and technical development support Stable, year-round work supported by an established client base Company social activities (team breakfasts, golf tournaments, food truck events) Health and Safety is a core value at Carmichael Engineering.
