Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Plant Accountant at our Toronto manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for preparing financial reports in a manner that ensures accuracy and compliance with company accounting policies which will include preparation and analysis of reports, cost creation, financial analysis and frequent communication with various corporate departments, plant locations, and senior management. Pay: from CA$85,000.00 per year. Your Additional Responsibilities As Plant Accountant Will Include Analysis and Reporting Preparation and analysis of monthly P&L Statements and account analysis. Activity based Product Costing, Standard cost and variance analysis. Monthly Costing runs and costing updates General accounting functions including A/P, month-end journal entries and accruals. Governmental reporting requirements Work closely with managers and staffs in generating analysis and insight into the relationships between revenues, cost drivers and understanding financial results. Analyze the departmental spending for all the plants. Assist the Division Controller with reporting, and special projects as necessary. Provide required support to Plant and Office Managers and their associates on timely manner. Processes and Procedures Ensure compliance with and suggest appropriate changes to internal controls documentation Develop and refine month-end processes to streamline procedures and create efficiencies. Identify areas in need of improvement through root cause analysis and recommend/implement corrective actions. Work closely with accounting and operational groups to ensure monthly transactions are captured in a timely and efficient manner. General office supervision including Purchasing and Administrative support. Skills And Requirements 3 - 5 years of experience with cost accounting in manufacturing is mandatory. Working knowledge of GAAP. Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to see the relationships between operations and financial results. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a fluctuating workload, changing priorities and firm deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A results-oriented team player with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships within all levels of the organization. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required. Completion of a recognized professional designation (CPA) is an asset.
