Your role We are currently recruiting for a Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis and Reporting leader to join our Finance team, supporting our English Services Sports team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, your role will be integral to the English Services Finance Management team. You will be directly involved with the Financial Planning & Analysis, and internal financial reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis. The role will also be heavily involved in the development and implementation of the annual and multi-year strategic and business plan process for the Sports team which also includes reporting for the Olympics. In addition, your role supports various other operational areas within the business as well as managing one finance professional supporting staff. Responsibilities: Collaborate with the National Director and supporting Directors within the Sports department to strategically plan and develop the annual departmental and program budgets and forecasts. Perform financial analyses and make recommendations to help inform strategic decisions as it relates to new transformational initiatives. Drive on-going analysis, evaluation, advice and guidance on departmental and Olympics expenditures, future planning, and effective utilization of workforce. Understand and leverage systems and workflows to improve planning and management reporting. Allocate, administer and monitor departmental funds/resources to meet departmental and corporate objectives for the Sports team and consolidate financial information for Olympics reporting. Authorize expenditures within approved budget limits. Serve as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate application and adherence to financial policies, procedures and corporate guidelines. Solicit and structure all financial information required for preparation, implementation and control of financial reports for Sports and Olympics, ensuring that all spend is within allocated budgets. Investigate forecast-to-budget variances, analyze financial results from previous year and obtain explanations where required; summarize overall departmental financial position for Sports and Olympics; provide recommendations on where savings can be realized and/or where resources can be reallocated to develop options for future periods. Present results to senior management by participating and/or leading discussions on financial performance and action follow up items at quarterly financial results meetings. Lead, mentor and develop a high-functioning team (including a direct report and colleagues) fostering a motivating environment and positive working relationships with other leaders across the organization. Qualifications: Professional accounting designation such as CPA is required. Minimum 8-10 years of experience in a large organizational environment with FP&A experience; media/ broadcasting experience is an asset. Ability and skills to make recommendations and provide analytical insight and interpretation of complex financial data to senior management in a clear and concise manner. Superior Excel skills and experience working with Oracle and Workday is an asset. Previous experience in a leadership position, including overseeing direct staff, setting of objectives, assigning and coordinating the work of direct reports is required. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate and interact with employees, business managers and various levels of management of several departments in order to coordinate various activities. Good leadership qualities and be capable of working with various levels of management and in situations either as a team leader or team member. Ability to deal with several, sometimes conflicting priorities under pressure to meet deadlines and meet multiple urgent demands within tight timeframes. Analytical mind, good judgment and great flexibility for work schedules, to serve diversified clientele and cope with numerous changes. Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
