Our mental health program provides a broad range of services in schools and the community as well as day treatment programs and inpatient care when needed. POSITION SUMMARY An Occupational Therapist is required for the Eating Disorders Program. The Occupational Therapist will be part of an interdisciplinary team offering services to children and youth who have severe eating disorders. The Eating Disorders program includes an inpatient unit, a new partial hospitalization program, a day treatment program, and outpatient services. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES To provide an assessment of the child or youth’s daily functioning within the home, school and community environments To assess the patient’s abilities in the area of self-care, and explore both leisure and vocational strengths and needs to aid in the development of coping strategies To assess the child/youth’s self-regulation skills and provide programming to address the needs identified To assess the child/youth’s sensory profile and provide programming as required To collaborate with team members on developing treatment plans for the child/youth To work with the child/youth on an individual basis, with his/her family and/or within a therapeutic group To participate in monthly professional practice meetings To actively participate as a team member within all levels of eating disorders programming, supporting the development of standardized referral pathways to prioritize OT support within all levels of eating disorders programming To participate in ongoing education and training to remain up-to-date on best practice To participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives To participate in clinical research activities related to the Eating Disorders Program To participate in the supervision and teaching of students and support personnel. To represent Occupational Therapy and the Eating Disorders Program on committees QUALIFICATIONS Graduate from an accredited university program in Occupational Therapy (Essential) Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (C.O.T.O.) (Essential) Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Occupational Therapist (Essential) Related experience within a mental health setting (Preferred) Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in children and youth (Preferred) Experience and/or interest in clinical research (Essential) Communicate effectively, orally and in writing (Essential) Demonstrate excellence in interpersonal skills (Essential) Comfort level and skill in preparing and facilitating therapeutic groups (Essential) Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential) Bilingualism (English/French) (Preferred) Timeline may be extended or shortened based on operational needs *Please note you will be represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). The Occupational Therapist will provide comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans for children and youth with severe eating disorders within an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include facilitating therapeutic groups, participating in clinical research, and supporting standardized referral pathways across inpatient and outpatient programs.

Candidates must hold a degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. A minimum of two years of experience, preferably in a mental health setting, is required along with a successful Vulnerable Sector Check.
