Required Abilities, Qualifications And Experience Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment. Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators. Appropriate professional preparation in the teaching of Technology Education; a diploma certificate in Technology Teacher Education (TTED) is required. extensive experience in teaching Technology Education (Metal Work, Woodwork, Robotics) extensive training and experience in using industry standard shop equipment demonstrated understanding of the curriculum organizers as documented in the Curriculum Competencies for all areas of this assignment demonstrated ability to suitably employ a variety of instructional strategies to achieve the desired learning outcomes demonstrated ability to devise a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate what they know demonstrated ability to organize and manage an effective and safe technology program demonstrated ability in using formative assessment strategies and the ability to develop appropriate instructional strategies for all assignment areas demonstrated ability in using a variety of technology within the classroom to enhance learning demonstrated ability to adapt or modify curriculum for students who are experiencing difficulties proven ability to differentiate instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for working, and developing positive relationships, with adolescents cultural awareness and experience in Indigenous Education demonstration of, and commitment to Indigenizing curriculum using the First Peoples Principles of Learning knowledge of SIOP or a willingness to be trained in SIOP familiarity with and supportive of a restorative approach to student discipline demonstrated ability to incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies to resolve discipline problems and still maintain the dignity of young adolescents evidence of personal initiative and strong work ethic with a proven ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member excellent communication skills with parents, students, and other staff For Further Information Contact: 604-795-5781 Chilliwack Middle School, Stacey Pickles, Principal; Kathryn Popma, Vice Principal
