Required Abilities, Qualifications And Experience Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment. Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators. Demonstrated knowledge of, experience teaching, and understanding of the Career Life Education curriculum. English degree or major Experience teaching English at the Secondary School Level Demonstrated passion and commitment to engage students in exploring post-secondary options through Career Life Education Demonstrated ability to consistently incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies that maintain the dignity of students with an emphasis on a proactive approach demonstrated experience with the UDL framework planning for access points and success for all learners demonstrated experience with the RTI framework to support student learning demonstrated experience in reading, contributing to, and fulfillment of Individual Education Plans demonstrated experience and continued commitment to honoring First Peoples Principles of Learning and the Indigenization of curriculum in Career Life Education and English at a secondary level demonstrated ability to work in a trauma-informed capacity An exemplary work ethic with proven ability to work as an effective team member Demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for developing positive relationships with adolescents Proven ability organizational and time management skills, creative problem-solving skills, effective team building skills and strong communication skills Willingness to work in a collaborative manner with staff, administration and parents For Further Information Contact: Chuck Lawson, Principal; Beth Clarke, VP; Josh Sandberg, VP; Kate Campbell, VP; Ron Bhatti, VP (604) 795-7295
