Posting Number: TC-26-37 Job Type: Temporary Full-time, up to 18 Months, Union Salary Range: $50,687.00 to $60,660.60 per year Posted: Thursday, August 13, 2026 Application Deadline: Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 11:59 pm The Opportunity The Legislative and Court Services Department is comprised of three branches; Legislative Services (which includes Council Secretariat, Corporate Mail and Print Services, Vital Statistics and Access and Privacy Services), Court Services (which is responsible for the administration of justice within two court service areas in compliance with the Provincial Offences Act, the Memorandum of Understanding and Inter-municipal Service Agreements) and Enforcement Services which is responsible for administering and enforcing several municipal by-laws including but not limited to regulations related to the parking of vehicles, pet controls, property maintenance, business licensing, and sign placement). The Office Services Assistant position provides administrative support related to the delivery of departmental services and programs and provides courteous, professional and timely customer service for all inquiries. Education (degree/diploma/certifications) One (1) year College Certificate in Office Administration, Business Administration or related discipline Don’t meet the education credentials as outlined above but have years of directly related experience? Position Equivalency Code: B Experience Two (2) years of experience performing duties related to the major responsibilities of the position Knowledge/Skill/Ability Demonstrated Ability to: accurate keyboard at a speed of 50 wpm skillfully operate a personal computer in a network environment be a self-starter work independently with good judgment and diplomacy handle a large and diverse workload with challenging deadlines Intermediate skills include: Customer Service; Interpersonal; Multitasking; Organizational; Prioritization; Verbal Communication; Written Communication Intermediate computer literacy using the following systems and software: MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Publisher, Access), Adobe software, and software applications related to the department Conditions of Employment Satisfactory Criminal Record Check* Please note that this is a requirement for any new employees to the City of Barrie in accordance with the Police Record Check Policy.
