Company Description The City of Campbell River is searching for experienced Certified Instructor II - Early Childhood Educator Assistants to join our Recreation & Culture Team in these auxiliary, on-call positions. Naturally, Campbell River – Located on Vancouver Island, the City of Campbell River offers a rare combination of a welcoming small-town feel with large-city amenities. We are a 45-minute drive from the winter and summer activities of Mount Washington, and just minutes from more than 100 km of all levels of mountain biking and hiking trails, plus easy access to the ocean, rivers and lakes for sports fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and whale watching. Job Description The role: In this auxiliary role as a Certified Instructor II – Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA), you will support the delivery of early learning programs by assisting with the planning and facilitation of developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the BC Early Learning Framework and licensing standards. Ensure a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for children and their caregivers, while promoting child-directed learning and positive engagement. Provide leadership in program delivery and support other early years’ initiatives as needed. What we offer: The rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit position is $27.84 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits (this is equivalent to a wage of $31.18 per hour). The successful candidate(s) will also have access to a reduced cost Employee Wellness Pass for Recreation facilities and programs. Hours of Work: This is a casual, on-call position with flexible scheduling and no guaranteed hours. The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, and is available to work on short notice, and is flexible. Qualifications Our ideal candidate(s) must have: Grade 12 or equivalent Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certification Emergency First Aid with Child CPR C Minimum of one (1) year experience working with children in a preschool or early learning program environment, within the last seven (7) years Must successfully attain and maintain a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
