Job Description Division: Children and Social Services Department: Community Well-Being Initial Reporting Location: 199 Larch Street Job Status: Permanent Position (Bilingual - English/French) Number of Vacancies: 1 Union Affiliation: CUPE 4705 Inside Unit Hours of Work: 70 hours bi-weekly Shift Work Required: No Range of Pay: Group 6 - $28.02 to $32.94 per hour The start date will follow the selection process. Main Function: Receive persons in office, answer telephone calls, provide information and direction as required. Characteristic: Under the direct supervision of the the Co-ordinator of Children and Social Services Administration. Duties Respond to general enquiries from clients, the general public and agencies and refer to appropriate contacts. Keep records as required. Arrange appointments and meetings as required. Receive, pick-up, file and/or distribute documents as required. Maintain filing system. Perform keyboarding and data entry. Organize, maintain and keep an inventory of stock forms and other office supplies. Review case files for retention of materials for archives and destroy outdated material as directed. Acquaint new employees and students with the Clerk-Receptionist job functions as required. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein. Perform other related duties as required. Note: The above duties are representative of a typical position and are not to be construed as all inclusive. Qualifications Education and Training: Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education. Experience Six (6) months up to and including twelve (12) months of related experience. Other Requirements Satisfactory keyboarding skills (minimum 40 words per minute). Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public in a courteous and effective manner. Demonstrate and proven ability related to microcomputer software and administrative systems (e.g. file maintenance, word processing, information input and retrieval). Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing. French verbal skills and a good working knowledge of written French is required. Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history. Physical capability to operate a vehicle safely, possession of a valid driver’s licence and an acceptable driving record, will be considered an asset.
