Paid Per Call Firefighter

CITY OF KENORA FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES PAID-PER-CALL FIREFIGHTER Salary: $27.40 per hour (Probationary rate) Hours Commitment: 2-5 hours per week (average) The Recruit Paid-Per-Call Firefighter is an entry level position in the fire service and no experience is necessary as recruit training will be provided. Paid-Per-Call Firefighters provide an important service to the City of Kenora and are a dedicated part of our composite fire department. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Responding to emergency incidents including fires, rescues, hazardous incidents, and other public safety emergencies. Working as part of a crew to safely and effectively mitigate emergencies and protect life and property. Operating firefighting equipment, apparatus, and specialized rescue tools. Driving department vehicles and apparatus when qualified and assigned. Participating in recruit training and ongoing firefighter training to develop and maintain required certifications and skills Assisting with fire prevention initiatives, public education programs, and community events. Remaining physically and mentally prepared to perform the duties of a firefighter in challenging environments. Following departmental policies, procedures, and safe work practices at all times All other duties as assigned Qualifications: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent. Valid unrestricted Ontario Glass “G” Driver’s License (or equivalent) and be willing to attain a DZ Driver’s License Commitment to ongoing training and professional development. Ability to meet the physical demands of firefighting and emergency response. Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in emergency situations. The Paid-Per-Call Firefighter responds to emergency incidents including fires, rescues, and hazardous situations while working as part of a crew. They are also responsible for operating firefighting equipment, participating in training, and assisting with fire prevention and public education programs.

Candidates must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and a valid Ontario Class G driver's license, with a willingness to obtain a DZ license. Applicants must also be able to meet physical demands and remain calm in emergency situations.
