Req ID: 28542Vacancy Type: Temporary Number of Positions: 10 Closing Date: 09/10/2026 Please note: Vacancies may vary depending on Facility requirements Job Summary Our team is actively seeking dynamic cooking instructors for our programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the instruction of a comprehensive cooking camp or program as outlined by the City of Mississauga to meet the needs of participants and to ensure adequate safety while facilitating the activity.Duties and Responsibilities Instruct and supervise comprehensive cooking camp and/or program as developed by the Recreation & Culture Division to meet the needs of all participants in the camp/program(s). Prepare specified lesson plans for classes in advance including arriving 15 minutes prior to class to set up and organize. Evaluate and monitor camper/student progress. Address questions/concerns from participants and caregivers. Policy and procedure adherence and provide quality customer service and information to participants and other staff. Communicate with Supervisor regularly regarding participants, program development and delivery and customer service. Perform administrative program functions pertaining to the operation of the classes. Incorporate and model the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development in program delivery where appropriate. Complete all mandatory online job required learnings. Attend and participate in training and staff meetings as scheduled. Perform other related duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications Minimum 16 years of age by the start of the employment session. (September 26, 2026) Must hold a valid and current Intermediate First Aid or Standard First Aid certification with CPR C & AED from a recognized WSIB-provider, or must hold a valid and current Basic First Aid or Emergency First Aid with CPR C & AED from a recognized WSIB-provider, at the employee’s expense. HIGH FIVE ® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification. Food Handler certification. The certificate must be current at hire and during the employment period and is paid for at the employees’ expense. Education/Training in Culinary Arts is an asset. Knowledge of and experience in teaching and working with children/youth is an asset. Strong communication and organizational skills. Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Level 3 - Vulnerable Sector Check from a Police unit that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga. Candidates must be at least 16 years old and hold valid First Aid, CPR, AED, and Food Handler certifications. Experience in teaching children or youth and education in culinary arts are considered assets.
