EXPRESSION OF INTEREST PROGRAM FACILITATOR – Inclusive Day Program Department of Recreation & Community Safety $20 Per Hour Mount Pearl is a vibrant, progressive community with an exceptional quality of community life and a strong sense of home. We are seeking a person who is strategically focused on the continual growth and community development of Mount Pearl. The Role Under the supervision of the Accessibility, Diversity & Inclusion (ADI) Coordinator, the Program Facilitator(s) will be responsible for implementing and supporting planned programming for the City of Mount Pearl’s Inclusive Day Program. This position involves facilitating a variety of inclusive and engaging activities that promote creativity, physical activity, and social interaction among adults of all abilities. Facilitators will ensure participant safety, program adaptability, and a positive, welcoming environment that supports independence, confidence, and community connection. Program components may include creative arts and expression, adapted sports and recreation, swimming, and life skill–based activities. Duties & Responsibilities * Facilitate daily activities and support participants in all program components. * Ensure the safety, inclusion, and well-being of all participants during program hours. * Adapt activities and materials to meet the individual needs and abilities of participants. * Assist participants with transitions between activities, including recreation and swimming sessions. * Collaborate with the ADI Coordinator and other staff to deliver engaging and meaningful programming. * Maintain attendance records, incident reports, and other required documentation. * Provide respectful, person-centered support and uphold the City’s values of inclusion, diversity, and accessibility. * Assist in the setup and cleanup of activity areas and equipment. * Must be comfortable participating in aquatic-based programming, including entering the pool to assist participants as required. * Hours of work will vary based on program scheduling and participant needs. This position may include daytime hours between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on designated program days. Qualifications * Considerable experience and knowledge in working with individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. * Group Fitness Instructor certification (CSEP, CCAA, canfitpro, or equivalent. * Educational background in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, Physiotherapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or a related health or human services field is considered an asset. * Must hold valid First Aid/CPR and AED certification. * HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification is considered an asset. * Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check (dated no longer than six months prior to hire) are required. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and support participants in a group setting. * Demonstrated patience, empathy, and adaptability when supporting individuals with mobility or balance challenges. * Previous experience in rehabilitation, adapted physical activity, or inclusion-based fitness programming is considered an asset.
