Applications are invited for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator within the City of North Bay’s Water Wastewater Division. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, Water & Wastewater, operates Heavy Equipment to complete all water distribution and waste water collection repairs. Performs the safe and efficient operation of wheeled or tracked excavators, mini excavators, loader/backhoe with bucket and hydraulic breaker when required to excavate, break frost/rock, hoist, load, compact, level and spread earth, gravel or other materials. Heavy equipment operators are also required to perform minor equipment maintenance and adjustments. Operators are responsible to read and understand utility locates and relevant sections of the OH&S Act as well as the Safe Drinking Water Act. Direct personnel to ensure their compliance and safety during excavations. Qualifications Must have Grade 12 Education or equivalent Must have three (3) years’ experience in the operation of an excavator and other various heavy equipment required in the water distribution and collection field Must be able to follow explicit directions. Must hold a valid Ontario Class “D” Driver’s License with a “Z” endorsement Must have a good work, driver and operator record. Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Level 1 Certificate; or ability to obtain Ministry of Environment (MOE) Operator-in-training (OIT) certificate within probationary period (at own expense) and is required to achieve and hold Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection level I certification within three years of a valid OIT certificate. Required to participate in On-Call Duty System and be available for emergency work after hours. Exigences
