The Opportunity The City of Wetaskiwin is seeking someone who enjoys facilitating recreation programs, encouraging young minds, has excellent customer service skills and wants to positively contribute to our community through dryland programming! Reporting to the Recreation Program Facilitator, this position will work within a team to help lead programming that encourages participants to improve their self-confidence, independence, build new skills, and create a fun and unique experience. This position is responsible for creating a positive environment for participants and to ensure their health and safety. Responsibilities Plan, facilitate, and adapt programming; Provide leadership and act as a role model to all registrants; Engage children in a positive and encouraging environment; Be familiar with the medical conditions, dietary restrictions, and/or behavioral problems of children enrolled and act according to information and training provided (if needed); Maintain positive public image through excellent customer service and communication; Assist in cleaning up after activities and at the end of each program; Report any accidents/incidents to the Recreation Program Facilitator; Ensure safety standards and procedures are maintained; Adhere to all City of Wetaskiwin Policies and Procedures; Other duties as assigned; Education, Qualifications, and Work Experience Have, or willing to obtain, valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certificates. Clear Criminal Record Check, with Vulnerable Sector check. High Five Sport Certification is an asset. Red Cross Youth Leader Certification is an asset. Experience and interest in working with children and youth. Customer service experience. Before commencing employment, the successful candidate must provide all necessary certifications and documentation, including but not limited to a driver's abstract and employment-related record checks. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge and understanding of recreation services delivery and customer service. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Effort, and Safety Commitment As the successful applicant, you will be responsible to adhere to the policies, principals, and practices of OHS legislation, and the City's requirements, as these obligations pertain to this role. This position is considered a light safety sensitive position which includes light effort including but not limited to, standing, walking, climbing, stairs, kneeling manual dexterity, visual acuity, lifting up to 10 lbs. Exigences
Candidates must have or be willing to obtain Standard First Aid and CPR-C certifications and pass a criminal record check with a vulnerable sector search. Experience working with children and youth, along with strong customer service skills, is required.
