You are responsible for providing leak detection services (including emergency response, non-emergency response, leak surveys and other planned work), and pinpointing of leak locations.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Completion of Grade 12 Minimum of 4 years of experience in water distribution or a related field Experience and training in providing leak detection services and/or locates for a water system is an assetCERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Must complete all required on-the-job training/certifications (e.g. WHMIS, fall arrest, confined space entry, etc.) within the timeframe determined by the employer. Must possess and maintain Ontario MOE Class 1 Drinking Water Distribution Operator Certificate or Ontario MOE Class 1 Water Treatment Operator CertificateKNOWLEDGE Water distribution systems’ infrastructure and operations Relevant Section, Unit, Branch, departmental and City policies, standards, specifications, processes and Standard Operating Procedures Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Read and understand maps and plans Effective interpersonal skills Communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing Work well independently and as part of a team Math skills Operate personal and handheld computers and use relevant software (e.g. geoOttawa, ArcGIS, Maximo, MS Word and Outlook) Reliable Mechanical aptitude Attention to detail Conscientious Initiative Observant Confident Willing to work on-call shifts and overtime WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted. You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement. The incumbent is responsible for providing leak detection services, including emergency and non-emergency responses, surveys, and planned maintenance. They will also pinpoint leak locations and support municipal water and wastewater infrastructure programs.

Candidates must have completed Grade 12 and possess at least 4 years of experience in water distribution or a related field. Additionally, they must hold or obtain an Ontario MOE Class 1 Drinking Water Distribution or Treatment Operator Certificate.
