Service: Facility Operations Service Employment Type: 1 or more Part-time Continuous Positions – up to 24 hours per week Affiliation: CUPE 503 - In/Out/Shift Sal & Wage Salary Information: $22.836 - $26.727 per hour (2024 rates of pay) Various Shifts: Days, Evenings, Weekends Location: Various locations City: Ottawa, ON Job Category: Recreation, Cultural & Facility Services Application Close: 29/01/2027JOB SUMMARY The mandate of Facility Operations is to operate and maintain all City facilities and City-managed buildings, which represents approximately 900 buildings and includes police, fire, libraries, child care, paramedic posts, recreation, culture, public works, City Hall and other administrative buildings, long-term care facilities, and facility outdoor property. The Facility Operations units deliver facility management and maintenance services within assigned geographic and/or specialty areas. You are responsible for performing duties associated with the operation and maintenance of all City facilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Completion of Grade 10 Up to one month of related experience CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates are assetsKNOWLEDGE General facility cleanliness and safe work practices Cleaning chemicals and disinfectants and safe application/procedures Effective cleaning techniques WHMIS Customer Service principles Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers. COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Able to communicate effectively with the general public and staff Able to work effectively in a team environment Good interpersonal and customer service skills Polite and punctual Possess the physical capability to perform the ongoing duties of the position Prepared to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends Presentable to the public WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Language Requirement:English oral, reading, writing Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction. You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement. Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements. Please save a copy of the job poster.
