Service: Community Rec, Culture & Sport Services 1 or more Part-time Continuous Positions – up to 24 hours per week Salary Information: $21.859 - $25.770 per hour (2024 rates of pay) Various Shifts: Days, Evenings, Weekends Affiliation: CUPE 503 PT - RC & Aquatics/CUPE 503 PT Rec Location: Various locations City: Ottawa, ON Job Category: Recreation, Cultural & Facility ServicesApplication Close: 06/06/2027JOB SUMMARY Cultural and Heritage Programs is responsible for multi-disciplinary arts centres, heritage and museum facilities and structures, the delivery of arts, heritage and museum public programming and events, volunteer program development, audience development, and exhibits and research. You assist the Collections Officer/Cultural Planner with the intellectual (information) and physical management of artifacts/artworks. This includes: registration, cataloguing, preparing artifacts/artworks, preparing and maintaining display/exhibition/storage spaces, installing and dismantling the exhibitions, receiving shipments, and assisting with research and response to public inquiries. Duties include knowledge of museum standards in regard to the handling and care, preparation for delivery and installation, and storage of a wide range of objects. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Enrolled in university or college program in history, art history, fine arts, social sciences or museum studies Minimum of 1 year of collections management/registration experience in a museum/gallery environment and/or 1 year of technical experience in a museum/gallery environment (includes experience working with specialized tools for exhibit instillation) CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificatesAODA Customer Service/IASR TrainingKNOWLEDGE Provincial Conservation Standards for collections Registration practices and procedures Collection Management practices Knowledge of City of Ottawa standard computer software and museological databases Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation General Knowledge of corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to health and safety COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication Strong organizational and multitasking skills Strong computer literacy Ability to achieve goals with directions Ability to problem solve Attention to detail Ability to work independently and in a group setting Able to multi-task Ability to take initiative Reliable Flexibility Dexterity for handling objects Ability to lift 50 pounds WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
