The Role We are looking for a Network Specialist to design, implement, and maintain the network architecture underpinning CIX’s trading platform. This role focuses on low-latency networking, connectivity to brokers and vendors, and security controls, ensuring seamless market access and compliance. The Network Specialist will collaborate with system administrators, operations, and external partners to provide a highly available and secure trading environment. Key Responsibilities Configure and maintain firewalls, routers, and switches across colocation facilities and cloud environments. Manage secure connectivity for brokers and market participants (FIX sessions, VPNs, dedicated circuits, ACLs). Onboard network connectivity to and from third party connectivity providers (cross connects, LAN extensions, extranets). Monitor and optimize network performance to maintain low latency and stability. Implement and monitor DDoS protection, IDS/IPS, and other network security measures. Troubleshoot connectivity issues with brokers, telecom providers, and internal systems. Configure, update and maintain access control lists. Ensure redundancy and failover capabilities are tested and maintained. Provide Tier 2/3 network support during incidents and outages. Open to flexible work hours as needed based on extended hours trading. Other duties as assigned, supporting CIX technology and operational needs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or related discipline. Prior experience as a network engineer, specialist or network administrator. Hands-on experience with network design and maintenance, firewalls, routing, switching, and VPN configuration. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, multicast, VLANs, QoS, and network monitoring tools. Experience with network security technologies and best practices. Ability to work in latency-sensitive or mission-critical environments. Experience with designing, building, managing unicast and multicast network traffic for market data distribution Cisco network certification Experience designing and building low-latency network connectivity working at an ATS, Exchange, vendor or a broker/dealer in an equities capital markets domain ‍Nice to Have Proficiency with Linux/Unix systems administration and shell scripting. Familiarity with FIX protocol, trading connectivity, or financial exchange environments. Experience with scripting/automation (Bash, Python, Ansible). Working knowledge or prior experience with UDP Multicast and market data distribution Exposure to monitoring and logging systems used in hybrid infrastructure.
