Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid — GTA-based required) Salary: $170,000–$180,000 Industry: Software Position Type: Existing Vacancy About the Opportunity Our client is a Toronto-headquartered software company. The business has grown roughly 30% year over year across six consecutive quarters of growth, retains 100% of its logos, and operates with a team across Canada and the US. This Director of Finance role reports directly to a CFO. That means owning the close and reporting cycle, rebuilding the forecast model, tracking KPIs, running the year-end audit end to end, and taking ownership of the commercial modeling work - enterprise pricing, gross margin, usage-based pricing. You will also manage a Finance Manager who owns day-to-day controllership. Key Responsibilities Planning, Modeling & Business Partnering Rebuild the forecast model and own annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and cash flow management Set and model next year's revenue, ARR, and top-of-funnel targets Own gross margin analysis and the levers behind it, including delivery model, org structure, and hosting costs Build enterprise and usage-based pricing models to a target margin, and defend them with the commercial team Define and build the SaaS metrics the business reports on, from first principles rather than a template Partner with commercial, professional services, engineering, marketing, and HR on budget, headcount, and vendor negotiations Reporting, Close & Compliance Oversee month-end close and budget-versus-actuals delivered by the Finance Manager and external bookkeepers Run the year-end audit end to end, including technical accounting papers and audit committee materials Draft quarterly board and investor reporting packages that need review, not rewriting Own treasury, cap table administration, and stock option accounting Handle Canadian and US state tax authority queries and build the process for handling them going forward Own the finance tech stack, software subscription governance, and AI-enabled automation of manual work What You Bring CPA/CA designation — required, with a public accounting or audit background 10-12 years of progressive finance experience Advanced FP&A and financial modeling skills, and advanced Excel Technical accounting fundamentals — accruals, prepaids, revenue recognition on non-standard contracts Project management discipline: you run a close or a planning cycle as a project, and nothing falls through Comfort operating in ambiguity, with shifting priorities and incomplete direction People management or clear evidence of mentoring and developing junior finance talent Based in the GTA and able to be in downtown Toronto for in-person collaboration, typically Thursdays Nice to Have SaaS or technology finance experience, including SaaS metrics and cohort analysis Pricing and gross margin modeling in a product or services business Cap table and stock option administration Experience deploying AI or automation inside a finance function Next Steps We do appreciate all interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
