Reporting to the Supply Chain director, the Shipping, Receiving, Traffic & Customs Manager is responsible for the company’s general Traffic, Transportation and Customs activities as well as Shipping and Receiving. As a Shipping, receiving, traffic & customs manager, your key responsibilities include: Managing a team of 4 customs specialists and 4 shipping/receiving employees Meeting shipments deadlines, revenue targets and receiving turnaround time while fulfilling all regulatory requirements Ensuring that all documents required for shipments are prepared and that controlled goods proper authorization and documentation are obtained from relevant authorities. Liaising with foreign customs/custom brokers/freight forwarders to arrange clearance worldwide Negotiating with carriers to minimize transportation costs & duties on import & export shipment Determining if the product qualifies for the various free trade agreements Ensuring that all import shipments are properly declared and the duty & tax is paid Ensuring that all shipments of dangerous goods are packed according to the IATA regulations Optimizing the department processes using continuous improvement, digitalization & IT tools How To Excel In This Role Ten (10) years of experience in managing a shipping and receiving department including traffic & customs Bachelor degree in business administration or equivalent Detain a Certified Customs Specialist course What Sets You Apart Excellent knowledge of international laws pertaining to the export of goods including: Canada & US export control, CGP, EAR, ITAR, Free Trade Agreements, HTS, HS code determination… Strong leadership, management and communication & Problem solving skills Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change Strong computer skills & knowledge of BAAN or equivalent MRP system is a definite asset What We Offer 100% paid group insurance and employer-matched pension plan Student financial assistance program Free electric charging stations Low-cost on-site cafeteria Closed between the holidays World-class company on a human scale CMC is committed to employment equity and to the equal access program.
