Transitional Worker

Status: Casual This is a casual position. As such, there is no specific or guaranteed schedule associated with the position. Shifts are offered on an as-needed basis, in accordance with operational requirements and the applicable Collective Agreement. Employees may be contacted to fill available shifts based on their availability and operational needs. Range: $33.49 - $35.31 Location: Riverview, Coquitlam Schedule: Various Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Cottage/Transitional Housing Program, in a manner consistent with the Coast’s mission, philosophy, policies and objectives, the position is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the home programs such as cooking, cleaning, maintenance tasks by engaging the residents in daily life skills activities, medication administration all based on the psycho social rehabilitation principles. You will further identify and support residents to access community resources and services. Job Qualifications * Required Qualifications * Diploma in Community Social Service * Recent, related experience of two years Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work * A valid B.C Class 5 Driver’s license * Ability to obtain the following upon hire: * Certificates in First Aid + CPR * WHMIS * Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance * TB Clearance (done within past 6 months) * Foodsafe Knowledge and Abilities * Ability to work with people with a mental illness. * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. * Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. * Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others. * Ability to operate related equipment. * Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients. * Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients. * Ability and willingness to understand and work with adults who have been found not criminally responsible on account of a mental disorder. * Knowledge of the criminal justice system. * Life skills training and experience. * Good organizational and leadership skills. * Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups. The Transitional Worker is responsible for implementing home programs, including cooking, cleaning, and maintenance, while engaging residents in daily life skills activities. They also provide medication administration and support residents in accessing community resources and services.

Candidates must hold a Diploma in Community Social Service and have at least two years of recent, related experience. A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s license and the ability to obtain various certifications, including First Aid, CPR, and Foodsafe, are required.
