Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 4 Days Onsite) Job Type: Full-Time Interview Process: Final Round In-Person Interview Required Job Summary Cogency Inc. is seeking experienced SAP ABAP Developers / Integration Specialists to join a large-scale SAP transformation initiative for a leading Banking and Financial Services client. This role focuses on custom SAP development, enterprise integration, and modernization of legacy Mortgage Origination workflows into a new SAP platform. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of SAP ABAP development experience, strong expertise in Object-Oriented ABAP, BRF+, SAP PI/PO, REST APIs, and OData Services, along with the ability to perform impact assessments, solution prototyping, and integration design. Candidates with experience in Banking, Mortgage Origination, Lending, or Financial Services environments will be highly preferred. Key Responsibilities SAP ABAP Development Design, develop, and maintain custom SAP applications using Advanced ABAP and Object-Oriented ABAP (OO ABAP). Develop custom reports, enhancements, interfaces, forms, conversions, and workflows. Build scalable and maintainable SAP solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards. Develop and enhance BRF+ business rules for pricing, eligibility, and business logic. Optimize ABAP programs for performance, scalability, and maintainability. Integration Development Design and develop enterprise integrations between SAP and external applications. Develop RESTful APIs and OData Services for SAP integration. Build and maintain SAP Process Integration (SAP PI/PO) interfaces. Develop reusable integration services and API frameworks. Create and maintain Swagger/OpenAPI documentation for APIs. Support secure API integration using enterprise integration standards. Solution Assessment & Prototyping Perform impact assessments for new business requirements and application enhancements. Develop solution prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate technical approaches. Analyze existing SAP solutions and recommend modernization strategies. Participate in solution design workshops with business and technical stakeholders. Deliver impact assessment reports and implementation recommendations within project timelines. Legacy Modernization Design and implement integration pipelines to migrate legacy Mortgage Origination workflows into SAP. Build robust post-processing logic and background processing frameworks. Support migration of existing services into custom SAP solutions. Ensure seamless integration between legacy systems and the target SAP platform. Technical Design & Documentation Prepare technical design documents, interface specifications, and integration architecture documentation. Document API specifications using Swagger/OpenAPI. Maintain development standards and technical documentation. Participate in peer reviews and code quality initiatives. Testing & Deployment Perform unit testing and support system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and production deployments. Troubleshoot application defects and production issues. Support release management and post-production activities. Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams during deployment cycles. Agile Delivery Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement. Collaborate with solution architects, business analysts, integration teams, and client stakeholders. Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. 7+ years of SAP ABAP development experience. Strong hands-on expertise in: Advanced ABAP Object-Oriented ABAP (OO ABAP) BRF+ Experience developing: Reports Enhancements Interfaces Conversions Forms Background Jobs Strong experience with: SAP Process Integration (SAP PI/PO) REST APIs OData Services Swagger/OpenAPI Documentation Experience performing impact assessments and solution prototyping. Strong understanding of SAP integration architecture. Experience with post-processing frameworks and background processing. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience working within Agile development environments. Nice to Have Experience with SAP Integration Suite (SAP CPI). Experience with SAP S/4HANA. Knowledge of SAP BTP Integration Services. Experience with SAP Gateway. Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, JWT, and enterprise API security. Experience with Jenkins, Git, Azure DevOps, or CI/CD pipelines. Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. Knowledge of SAP Workflow and Fiori applications. Banking Domain Experience (Preferred) Candidates with Banking or Financial Services experience will be highly preferred.
