Women’s Shelter Manager Horelyu Dene Ts’edi Kue Cold Lake First Nations, Alberta Full-Time | Permanent Reports to: Operations Manager Horelyu Dene Ts’edi Kue is seeking an experienced Women’s Shelter Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our 24/7 Women’s Shelter. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the shelter operates safely and consistently, staff are supported and accountable, and women accessing the shelter receive respectful, trauma-informed and culturally appropriate support. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Women’s Shelter. Supervise, schedule and provide direction to Shelter Attendants, ensuring appropriate 24/7 coverage. Address staffing, attendance and operational issues as they arise. Oversee resident intake, admissions, safety planning and discharge processes. Ensure resident files, shift logs, incident reports and other required documentation are complete and accurate. Provide leadership and direction during resident crises, serious incidents and emergencies. Ensure shelter policies, safety procedures, confidentiality requirements and professional standards are followed. Work closely with Family Support and other programs to connect residents with appropriate services and resources. Maintain a safe, respectful and culturally welcoming shelter environment. Keep the Operations Manager informed of significant staffing, resident, safety and operational matters. Support staff training, development and continuous improvement of shelter operations. Qualifications 3–5 years of relevant experience in shelter services, family violence, crisis intervention, social services, housing or a related field. Previous supervisory or management experience, preferably in a residential, shelter or 24/7 service environment. Degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Community Services, Indigenous Studies or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. Strong leadership, communication, judgment, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Experience supporting women experiencing violence, homelessness, trauma or other complex circumstances. Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally safe practices. Experience working with First Nations communities is considered an asset. Requirements Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation. Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain. Willingness to complete required shelter-specific and safety training. Flexibility to respond to urgent staffing or operational matters outside regular working hours when necessary due to the 24/7 nature of the shelter.
